Meter readings
Unusual readings and estimates
Why a reading is flagged, and how to estimate meters that weren't read.

Flagged readings
Once a meter has at least three earlier real readings, Kelvo Nest compares new usage with its usual daily use. The Flagged tab lists:
- Unusually high use: twice the usual or more.
- Unusually low use: a quarter of the usual or less.
- No use recorded: zero.
If at least three similar meters in the same building changed in the same way (heating in winter, for example), the reading isn't flagged. Each flag comes with a short plain-language explanation; an AI badge means it was written by AI.
Estimate missing readings
- Step 1: On 1. Readings, press Estimate missing and confirm.
- Step 2: Kelvo Nest estimates each unread meter from its usual use over up to the last six real readings.
- Step 3: Meters with no history can't be estimated and are listed so you can enter them yourself.
- Estimates are approved automatically and shown as "(estimated)" on the invoice.
- Residents can still submit a real reading over an estimate while the period is open.
- The next real reading settles the difference. If the estimate was too high, the resident gets a correction credit.
